There are a variety of shows these days geared towards this audience. I don’t have any kids in the “tween” years, but have actually come across a couple of these shows and have watched and laughed at them.
I am only focusing on the Disney one’s in this post. I think Disney has more “wholesome” shows to offer for those grade school age and the tweens.

I will start with the most familiar of them and it’s the Disney channel’s Hannah Montana. What I like most about this show is that even grade school kids can watch it safely. It’s main character is played by Miley Cyrus, her real life and on the show dad, Billy Ray Cyrus.
In case you have been living under a rock and have no idea what the show is about, Miley Stewart is a regular kid. She is also a pop star named Hannah Montana. She lives her regular life a high-school something and then performs at concerts as Hannah. She lives at home with her dad “Robbie Ray” and her brother Jackson. They of course know “the big secret” as well as 2 of her best friends Lily & Oliver. The young actress is almost like a young Lucille Ball. Her personality and choices are always getting her into some kind of trouble. It’s a G-rated family show.

Next up on Disney is the Wizards of Waverly Place. This show is about a family, the Russo’s, with a secret. They are magical and the kids are learning how to use their powers. Imagine Harry Potter, but family style, and a comedy.
Something always goes wrongs with their powers and most the time they try to fix it before their parents find out about it. I know some have opinions about it because the “witchery” in the show. I think it’s harmless and entertaining. It’s a G- rated family show as well.

You can’t forget shows for boys of this age group now either. The Suite Life of Zach and Cody has been on for a couple of years. Dylan & Cole Sprouse are twin brothers (Zach & Cody) that are always on the way to finding trouble.
In the early years of the show they lived in a hotel while their mom was teh lounge singer. They had crazy adventures with the hotel staff and living the hotel life. Now show has changed a little and they are living on a cruise ship. There are alot of other colorful characters that the twins constantly interact with. This of course is another G-Rated family show.

Although both genders can watch all of the shows in this post. This next show is one of Disney’s newest, based on one of the most popular boy bands today. Jonas, based on the Jonas Brothers. I have only seen one episode so far.
It’s the Jonas brothers being “The Jonas Brothers” trying to be somewhat normal and go to school like regular kids. They seem to be always bombarded by fans, but the other kids at school are apparently used to them and their fame. They try to have a regular family life at home with mom & dad and practice for their band at night. It seems almost like the old “Monkees” show type slapstick variety show. It’s entertaining enough and I’m sure they have way more tween girl fans than boys.
What do you think? Have you seen any of these shows? I plan on doing Nickelodeon “Tween” shows soon as well- iCarly, Naked Brothers Band…..etc.

We don't watch too much TV so we haven't really seen most of these shows. Are the Nickelodeon ones better than the Disney ones?

I've watched Hannah Montana and Wizards of Waverly Place. Both are cute and I laughed. The other two I just can't bring myself to watch. The Suite Life drives me a bit bonkers. Maybe it's because I don't have boys so I can't relate.

I have boys and can't stand the Suite Life. The Jonas brothers seems to have a good moral each time I've seen it.
