You can sort by things like Most Popular, Most Recently Added, Highest Rated and Release Date.  You can look for everything from preview clips to full movies.  Hulu has quite a few classics, but a few newer movies, as well.

Take some time to explore Hulu’s movie selection and you might find a favorite you haven’t seen in a long time, or a new gem that you haven’t discovered yet.

QuboOne of the things I love about Qubo is that it’s more than just shows for my kids to watch, either on tv, or on the internet.  Qubo shows reinforce good values, like friendship, honesty and respect.  It also reinforces the need to read, as many of the Qubo shows are based on children’s series.  It’s great that the kids can expand on the adventure by picking up a book with these familiar characters in them.

So after exploring some of your kids’ favorite cartoons at the Qubo site, have a treasure hunt to see which of the books you can find to read together.

ronnieDarn it Ronnie.  We wanted to like you.  You’re a Geek’s Geek – the kind of character that people love to love on Reality TV.

But you’ve overplayed your hand.  You aren’t showing good game.  If you just slowed down a little bit you could still be in with at least part of the household – but no, you’re like a bull in a china shop.

It will be interesting to see how Big Brother Season Eleven progresses from here.

Super Why! is another wonderful PBS Kids literacy based show.  It’s aimed at pre-readers and early readers, with the characters also in the different stages.  Each episode features well-known fairy tale characters including Pigof the Three Little Pigs, Little Red Riding Hood (Red), The Princess and the Pea, and a special new character, Whyatt, the little brother of Jack from Jack and the Beanstalk.

Each episode finds the four friends flying into a story of another character and help fix problems.  Sometimes it takes rewriting the story, guiding the viewers in problem solving and finding the correct words to fit the context of the story.

The website not only has episodes to watch, but activities that match up with episodes that you can do with your child.

dating-in-the-darkDating in the Dark premiered this last week and we watched it on ABC.com this morning.

Can you imagine dating someone in the dark?  I’ve had my share of relationships that started with telephone calls -where you get to know someone’s voice before you see them.  But this is different.  You get to sit together, touch each other, even kiss!  All the while not knowing what the other person looks like

Three single gals and three single guys date as a group and then have brief one on one dates – so they’re exposed to each other quite a few times.

Do you think you could get to know someone that way?

I felt some disappointment at the shallowness that some of them displayed even after having gotten to know someone fairly well.  Hearing a guy say ‘I hope she’s hot!’ is just sad.  Isn’t the whole point that they’re learning to connect on a non-visual level?

Jakers! The Adventures of Piggley Winks is a
delightful CGI show that looks at the childhood of Piggley Winks and his best friends, Ferdinand Toro and Dannon O’Mallard.  Each episode features a story told by Grandpa Piggley to his grandchildren of his youth in Ireland on the farm, with a lesson learned by both Piggley in the past, and his grandchildren in the present.

Other characters include Wiley Sheep (Mel Brooks) and Shirley Sheep (Joan Rivers). Wiley spends his time trying to get the other sheep to do wacky things.

The show used to be on PBS in the US, but now you have to look for it in syndication, or on YouTube.

VeggiesTales is one of our family’s favorite cartoons.  For those who haven’t met these crazy Veggies, you need to.  These are Veggies that every kid (and adult) will love.  Larry the Cucumber and Bob the Tomato and friends teach a lesson in each episode using retold Bible stories with humor, lots of humor. And a Silly Song or two.

VeggieTales are now featured both on NBC and Qubo (as are many other Qubo shows). VeggieTales will keep you laughing and learning as a family. Spoofing pop culture (like basing episodes on Star Trek, Gilligan’s Island and Indiana Jones) makes it fun for everyone.
