I love books about as much as I love TV. So for this It’s Things I Love Thursday! I will talk about books that are TV shows.

Gossip Girl

This show is based on the book series, Gossip Girl, by CecilyVon Ziegesar.  Started in 2002, the books and TV show follow a group of friends on the upper east side of New York. The novels runs much like a soap opera, except that the main characters are all rich and snobby chic 17-year-olds who want what they want and let nothing get in the way. The final and eleventh book was published in 2007. Following the series were 2 follow up books. In 2008, there was a follow up book series called Gossip Girl: Carlyles. Shortly after, in 2009, the series came to life on the CW and has been on ever since.  The TV show isn’t as far along as the books so I hope it’s safe to say the show can be around for a couple more years. If you are not a book lover you can always buy the Gossip Girl previous seasons on DVD.

If you are a Gossip Girl fan I am sure you will love both the book and the TV series. Let me know which you like better.

Have you heard of this? This is new to me. Who would have thought you could have a conversation between blogs.

How does it work?

Basically you find someone that is interested in chatting with you back and forth between blogs. So for this blog I would love to talk TV with someone.  You write a letter to the blogger asking a question as if it was an email. Instead of sending it privately, it is posted on your blog for all to see. Then the blogger will then in return write a letter to you answering your quesiton on their website linking back to you and the original post with the question. This is a great way to get your readers interested in your blog and your create organic back links to your site.  These conversations can be for as long as you want them to be, but typically after 4 posts each the conversation ends.

I am itching to get one of these for myself. My house is very drafty in the winter and I am always cold sitting on the couch watching TV or blogging.  So what could be better than a snuggie.

What is a Snuggie?

A sleeved blanket is a body-length blanket with sleeves usually made of fleece material. It is similar in design to a bathrobe that is meant to be worn backwards (i.e., with the opening in the back). They come in varying sizes and qualities of materials but similar basic design. They are coming out with more and more designs for the snuggie.

I will confess, I have watched MANY episodes of Hannah Montana. It’s really not a bad show. My niece went through a Hannah Montana stage and it was so cute.  Here are some great fan sites.

If you missed the series finale of Hannah Montana I found it on You Tube. Enjoy

It’s Things I Love Thursday

One show that is fun to watch and I adore is Top Chef.  They do the one thing I love the most, cook food!

Quickfire

Every episode starts with a quickfire challenge. Basically they have to cook some wacky kind of dish in a crazy little amount of time. This weeks episode was mystery box challenge. They are given a mystery box of ingredients and told to create a dish. Easy you say? Well as their 30 min go buy more mystery boxes appear and they must include the new ingredients. They sure came up with some weird one but what a mind these chefs have to think of things off the top.

Main Challenge

Sometimes they are paired with another contestant but often they are left to create their own dish. They typically cook for a tgroup of people who comment on their food. Then The panel of judges will taste all dishes and pick a winner and loser. Of course the lose must pack their knives and go.  This week they cooked for people that work for the CIA. How exciting.

Want Top Chef in your home?

I could learn so much from Top Chef if I could do a lot of pausing and rewinding.  I would love to own then on DVD. I also found out that they have cookbooks. How exciting for that.

What is next?

Be sure to check out Top Chef Just Desserts coming September 15th. This one should be interesting because from previous seasons, nobody loves desserts.  Check out Bravo to find out when new episodes of Top Cheft Masters will be on.

When I was growing up ABC used to have what was called an After School Special. It was geared toward the junior high pre-teen kids. They usually addressed some very good issues. Now they don’t exist. So what can your kids watch after school? Here is a list of shows that are on TV from roughly 3pm-5pm.

PBS

ABC Family

Disney Channel

Disney XD

Nick Jr

Teen Nick

There are quit of few shows on during after school hours if you are allowing your children to watch.  Check your local listings for shows for your childs age range.

Every TV addict has to have their very own collection of TV shows on DVD right?  Confession, I don’t!  So with all the new DVD’s coming out this summer I thought I would list some popular choices.

Five Popular Choices

  • Dexter Season Four- This time America’s favorite serial killer has gone from freewheeling bachelor to responsible husband and doting dad. Maintaining an average-guy facade while satisfying his need to kill has never been easy. But now, with wife and kids in tow, Dexter’s got more to lose then ever.

I loved the Cosby show. I remember one episode where Cliff was trying to get Vanessa to come over to him. It was, then, the funniest thing ever. Now, not so much as I am going through this with my son.

Flashback

I found the episode on You Tube which happens to be the pilot epidsode.  As I watched this episode again, I realized there are so many parenting tips included. I hope you enjoy.
