Law and Order: SVU (Special Victims Unit)-The cast consists of Detective Olivia Benson, Detective John Munch, Detective Elliot Stabler, Captain Donald Cragen, Detective Fin, and Assistant District Attorney Casey Novack. Benson and Stabler the main Detectives on the show, investigate some of the most heinous crimes committed in New York City. The special victims unit detectives are an elite group of detectives responsible for investigating sexually based crimes. New shows can be seen Wednesday at 9 pm n NBC. Reruns can be seen on Bravo and USA Network.
Law and Order: Criminal Intent- The cast for this show consists of detective Robert Goren, detective Alexandra Eames, Detective Lynn Bishop, and captain James Deakins. Many other detectives also appear on the show. The show also takes place in New York City. These New York City investigators work on crimes not associated with sexually based crimes. Most of their crimes consist around murders. New shows can be seen on the USA Network, with reruns running on NBC and Bravo.
If I had to choose between SVU and Criminal Intent I would definitely choose SVU. Stabler and Benson work extremely well together and are worth watching just to see what they’ll do next. The rest of the characters in SVU are almost as good, but not as quite as Stabler and Benson. Criminal Intent characters just don’t compare to those on SVU. I feel a connection with the SVU characters. I really don’t with Criminal Intent characters.
SVU also shows some of the most unbelievable heinous crimes that have probably been committed in real life. To me it just shows us how our “world” isn’t as safe and clean as some of the media and TV portrays. Not that I want to see these things happen to innocent people and children, but they happen and people need to know about it!
So there you have it! If you have to choose between SVU and Criminal Intent, definitely sped your hour watching SVU!

Although I used to watch Law & Order, I never got interested in any of the offshoots. I personally don't watch a lot of TV anyway anymore and don't want to watch shows about such terrible crimes for my entertainment. These shows are definitely intriguing though and I can understand why people are so fascinated by them. My husband and daughter both love similar types of shows. I guess I'm the oddball.
