Cal Lightman, the hero of the show “Lie To Me” believes it can.  Personally, I find it intriguing, but don’t think it can be stated as fact.

My husband and I really enjoyed Season 1. The “science” is presented in a very believable way – of course. The stories were interesting and the main characters have many layers. We both appreciate the dry wit and verbal sparring that’s included. There is always two story lines; usually two cases they have to solve.

Crime dramas are more popular than ever on television these days, but who has time to watch them all? Especially when some of these shows come on at the same time!

Here is a list of my top five favorite primetime crime dramas, all available as boxed sets – so you can watch them at your leisure!

The Mentalist

Former “psychic” Patrick Jane (played by Simon Baker) uses his skills of observation and analysis to assist the California Bureau of Investigation in bringing killers to justice.

In a life-altering moment, Jane’s family was murdered by Red John after Jane publicly admitted to assisting the CBI with his case. Now, Jane spends his days bringing down some of California’s most notorious and violent killers, with his eye on the prize of bringing Red John to justice – for good.

Some fabulous acting not only by Simon Baker, but also by Robin Tunney as Teresa Lisbon – head of the Bureau. There is obvious chemistry between Lisbon and Jane, but the mutual respect they have for eachother (and their roles within the Bureau) provides just enough tension to keep you hooked.

Get the complete first season now, or pre-order the complete second season and get it within days of release!

NUMB3RS

What would a thrilling crime drama be without an ordinary hero with extraordinary talents, there to save the day?

In NUMB3RS, FBI agent Don Epps (Rob Morrow) recruits his younger brother Charlie Epps (David Krumholtz) to use his mathematical genius to solve crimes. Charlie uses his mathematical skills to solve the crime, and then in CSI-esque fashion, breaks down what it all really means in a way that anyone can understand.

Some terrific acting, romance, comedy, sibling rivalry, and moments of suspense and thrill make this crime drama a must-see! Get seasons 1-5 in a boxed-set now, or pre-order season 6 for release on August 10th, 2010!

Monk

Call him OCD. Call him quirky. Call him just plain weird. Whatever you want to call him, Adrian Monk (Tony Shalhoub) can solve crimes in ways that others just can’t.

After his wife Trudy was killed in a car bombing, Monk fell completely apart. He had to leave the police force, and go into intensive therapy. Years later, he’s back – with a few interesting changes. His strange phobias and neurotic tendencies could make a lesser man go crazy, but for Adrian Monk, solving crimes is what keeps him going.

With his assistant Sharona by his side to keep him in check (and on task), Monk’s amazing memory and obsessive-compulsive disorder allow him to see patterns where others see only chaos. Which is precisely what makes him such a good detective.

If you’re looking for a great crime drama to get into, Monk just could be it. Check out the final season on DVD, available at The Monk Store at Amazon

CSI, CSI Miami & CSI New York

What list of crime dramas would be complete without the ever popular CSI?

Follow three separate sets of Crime Scene Investigators (or CSIs) from three different cities – Las Vegas, Miami, and New York – as they dig deep inside the evidence to find and convict some of the country’s most vicious killers.

Working from within their local police departments, the CSIs get a unique perspective. They don’t have all of the same rights as police officers, because their only job is to gather and analyze evidence from crime scenes. But each CSI department has a dedicated member of the police force waiting in the wings to help them catch the bad guy, when the time arrives.

Catch the DVD of each season:  CSI Store on Amazon, CSI Miami & CSI New York

Bones

What do you get when you mix a tough-guy FBI agent with a forensic anthropologist, and throw in a few murders? BONES!

With great chemistry between FBI Agent Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz) and forensic anthropologist Dr. Temperance Brennan (Emily Deschanel,) Bones brings viewers in with a unique twist. While the basic premise is the same as most other crime dramas (guy/gal gets killed, crime solvers spring into action, figure out who they are and who killed them, and bring the bad guy to justice – the end), there is a unique (and pretty funny) dynamic between the two lead characters.

More like a sibling rivalry than the romantic tension one would expect with two attractive lead actors, Booth and Brennan draw you into their world with each episode just enough to make you want to watch the next one.

All too often the popular vote turns a so-s0 cutey pie into the big winner and I’m glad to see that it isn’t the case with this year’s American Idol.

Casey was fine. Just fine.  When someone is talented AND good looking, they desperately need to have a deep sense of humility and I can’t honestly say whether he has it or not – it’s be wrong for me to judge that just from what I see on TV.  All I can say is that I didn’t see much evidence of it.

As the numbers dwindled and Casey stayed on the show, I wondered how many smitten young ladies and screaming little girls were behind his staying.  There’s no doubt in my mind that Mike should have outlasted him.

In the end though – Casey’s out of the running and two absolutely amazing individuals have made it through to the end.

When I look at Lee, in every episode, I could see and feel his humbleness and teach-ability.    Cassie… well come on – it doesn’t get any more real than that.

I’m thrilled with the finalists and can’t wait to see who wins.  Do you have any predictions?

They inspire us with their careers. They wow us with their style. And now, they can reach us with their Tweets.

These three women have all accomplished something with their lives that many women admire – whether that is fame, fortune, success, or even all three without losing sight of what is important. Join me in a journey through the Twittersphere to find – and follow – these amazing women!

1. Lea Michele

A singer. A broadway actress. And now, an actress on one of the biggest hit series to hit primetime TV in years – Lea Michele of “Glee” is certainly an inspiration to many young women.

At just 23 years old, she has already appeared on Broadway, been a part of at least half a dozen musical sound tracks, and has made almost 20 different appearances on national television for interviews – including Oprah, Entertainment Tonight, Rachel Ray and The Late Show with David Letterman.

Before she has even reached 25 years of age, she has already been nominated for a Teen Choice Award and a Golden Globe Award, and has won a Screen Actor’s Guild Award for Outstanding Performance – and a Satellite Award for Best Actress in a Series, Comedy or Musical.

If it isn’t inspiring to see what she has already accomplished with her young life, I don’t know what is! Follow her here!

2. Demi Moore

Her career has spanned decades. She has over 39 individual film credits to her name, all for major roles. She has 9 different television credits, spanning over 20 years. And while Courtney Cox-Arquette may be the hottest cougar on TV, Demi Moore managed to snag teen heart throb Ashton Kutcher in real life – marrying him back in 2005.

She is one of the highest paid actresses in Hollywood, has raised three daughters, and at nearly 50 – still looks hotter than Midge herself.

Even if it is just for managing to take Ashton Kutcher off the market with a 20+ year age difference, I salute you Demi! Follow her here!

3. Ellen DeGeneres

What can we say about Ellen? Whether you love her or hate her, she is an inspiration to be sure. Currently hosting two TV shows (her talk show, and as a judge on American Idol,) she has also…

- Authored two books
- Put out her own stand-up comedy CD
- Has 13 film credits and 24 television credits
- Has won 11 – yes, eleven – Daytime Emmy Awards
- Won an Emmy for her writing on “Ellen” in 1997
- Won 11 People’s Choice Awards (that must be her lucky number!)
- And even won a Kid’s Choice Award for her role in “Finding Nemo”

As if that wasn’t enough reason to find inspiration in Ellen, she has done it all while becoming wildly rich and successful, and not losing herself. She is still the same person she was 20 years ago, and refuses to change for anyone. She is honest, forthright, and tells it like it is. And you should definitely follow her on Twitter!

I’m going to come out and admit it here: I love Twitter, and I’m addicted to Facebook.

And today, on a whim, I decided to go and see how many of our favorite hottie TV stars are lurking out there on Twitter and Facebook, tweeting and updating away. Why?

Because I really need another way to obsess
about Patrick Dempsey. Yes, I do.

Surprisingly (and luckily for us) these stud-muffins don’t keep their social profiles very well hidden. In fact, you can find them all over the internet – just waiting for us to sit down with a cup of coffee and McDream over.

So, without any further delay, here are the Top Five Twitter TV Hunks! I’ve also taken the liberty of including Facebook profiles, when I could find them. Follow away, ladies!

1. Milo Ventimiglia

Two words – YUM YUM. From the cast of “Heroes”, we have Milo Ventimiglia. Those of you who’ve been watching primetime TV for any real length of time may also remember him as “Jess”, Rory’s boyfriend from “Gilmore Girls” for a whopping 37 episodes. Hey, that’s serious commitment in TV land.

What does he like to tweet about? Everything – from upcoming films, to alcohol, current events, and even entrepreneurship. (Did you know he runs his own production company? Me neither. I was too distracted by those deep, penetrating eyes…)

Is he on Facebook? Not publicly, but you can find his most popular fan page here

2. Ashton Kutcher

Because you know he had to make this list, not only for being dreamy – but because he is, without a doubt, one of the most prolific Tweeters in Hollywood. From “That 70′s Show” to “Punk’d”, Ashton has had a pretty successful TV career, and even made a few bucks on the big screen.

What does he like to tweet about? From the looks of his profile page, anything and everything. Some recent Tweets include topics like GoogleTV, French Movie Posters, and yes – even a Tweet about Twitter itself.

Is he on Facebook? Could Howard Stern feed all of Africa with a swear jar? Yes, of course Ashton has his very own Facebook page. And he makes it as public as public can be. Aww, how cute – Demi Moore is listed as one of his favorite pages. What a sweetie!

3. Omar Epps

One of the supporting cast in the hit TV drama House, M.D., Omar Epps is on this list as number 3. While he isn’t a hottie by everyone’s standards, I felt the need to include Omar here for his pure intelligence, his music (yes, he is a musician!) and his interesting Tweets. He actually speaks his mind as though everyone on his Twitter account knew him personally, which makes him that much more attractive.

What does he like to tweet about? House, M.D. of course, current events, and even basketball (apparently Omar is a Lakers fan.) Some insightful, thoughtful tweets!

Is he on Facebook? Yes, and he even updates his own page! You can find it here.

4. Neil Patrick Harris

Doogie Howser has gone primetime again in “How I Met Your Mother”, and yes, he’s on Twitter! While he was a cutie (and a teen heart-throb) back in his Doogie days, he’s all grown up and now, and handsome as ever. He Tweets about once a day, and has almost half a million followers. That alone makes him worth mentioning here!

What does he like to tweet about? Random thoughts, the show “How I Met Your Mother” on CBS, his appearances on TV and radio, and even his favorite beer!

Is he on Facebook? Yes, but he doesn’t personally update his biggest Fan Page. You can find it here.

5. Cory Monteith

Because no Twitter TV Star list would be complete without including someone from the cast of Glee, we have Cory Monteith. About as cute as they come in the band of geeks, Cory (also known as “Finn Hudson” on “Glee”) has also made past appearances on “Supernatural”, “Smallville”, and even a few teen horror flicks that would usually spell the end of an acting career – “Final Destination 3″ and “White Noise 2: The Light”.

What does he like to tweet about? Glee of course, the Vancouver Canucks (which just makes me love him even more!), and his other TV and radio appearances. And of course, like any other Tweeter, his random thoughts.

Is he on Facebook? Of course, with an official Fan Page!

So there you have it – the top 5 Twitter TV Hunks! Do you know of anyone to add to the list? Share with a comment!

While Haiti isn’t as frequently in the news as it was a few weeks ago, the problems the Haitian people face haven’t gone away. I love that Patricia Arquette has been tweeting about going over to give hands on help to the people in need. She’s not the only TV star to do so, either. While they aren’t getting the attention from the press that the big name stars like Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt get when they fly in, plenty of other television stars, like AnnaLynne McCord from 90210, are there pitching in and helping out, too.

Here are a few things Patricia Arquette talked about on her Twitter page on @PattyArquette:

Can you imagine that being what you see when you step off the plane? I would be paralyzed trying to figure out what to do first. Shoes, glass, shelter, fresh water? Being her typically big hearted self, Patricia Arquette is trying to work on all of it.

Even though they want to help everyone, starting with a goal like this 3.500 person tent camp and then working to reach it keeps them from doing a little here, a little there and not finishing anything. Smart idea and I’m hitting the retweet button.

I love that she seems to remember every detail. I also love that she’s back home shooting film and still working to help the Haitian people. Testing water, buying rakes and planning to return to help some more.

I’m glad Patricia Arquette took the time to tweet about some of the things she saw and what she plans to do to fix them. Those short tweets tell a story better than hours of interview time on talk shows, don’t they? I’m also glad that she and many other TV stars are still helping out with money and time. It can be too easy for us to forget one tragedy as we move to the next one, but the victims still need help.

And to finish on a lighter note, here’s Patricia Arquette showing us what goes on behind the scenes in a recent Medium episode called How to Beat a Bad Guy:

I’m getting pretty hooked on Human Target. I am not fond of the fact that you can’t watch it as a family when you have younger children, but the unfolding story of Chance and why he is the way he is drew me in before I realized it. Not sure if you want to get attached to a new series?

Here are five reasons to give it a try:

  • Everyone needs a hero to save the day. Chance is sort of James Bond and John McCain with an edge of I don’t careitis.
  • It is really great to see Chi McBride  as a decent guy named Winston who cares about people.
  • The special effects might not win awards for realism, but they’re fun.
  • Sometimes Chance and whoever he’s rescuing are wearing really cool threads. Other times, they  are total wrecks. And then, there’s New Girl, AKA Layla, who wears normal clothes. If you get bored of shows where everyone is either immaculate all the time or wearing suits, you’ll love the wardrobe variety.
  • You’ll find yourself waiting for a woman who isn’t just mad that Chance left her in the dust and then forgives him 15 minutes later. (Hmm. Maybe that isn’t quite a reason to watch, but seeing them cuff him with plans to arrest and/or imprison him to feel better is sort of fun.)

If you haven’t watched Human Target yet, you can see the latest four episodes on the Fox website.
