I’m 40 years old and have never paid a cable TV bill. No, I don’t still live with my parents, either. Growing up, all we had were the 3 major networks, ABC, CBS and NBC, plus two local PBS channels and a couple local channels. Then we started hearing about people getting cable tv. However, where we lived, they wouldn’t run cable as we had more cows than people more mile.
Now, in the days of high speed internet, the library having an excellent selections of DVDs, and NetFlix, we still don’t have cable. It used to be people were surprised by our still having rabbit ears (especially digital tv salespeople calling the house), but I think more people are moving away from cable tv for their viewing habits.
Between the network sites themselves, and sites like YouTube and
Hulu, there is an almost limitless source of fixes for the most ardent TV addict. I can watch shows I grew up with, like Star Trek, or newer shows like FireFly. I can even stay caught up on the last season of Lost, because everyone knows, if you can’t stay caught up, you are lost.
