Follow The Stars Of iCarly On Twitter
Are your kids fascinated by the smallest bit of trivia about their favorite television show? Does hearing that one of the stars of that show had their favorite cereal for breakfast make them so excited they can barely contain themselves?
If so, you can have them thinking you are just the coolest mom around by casually mentioning a few bits of the newest trivia while you are catching up on your morning news online. All you need to do to find out what is new with the stars of that beloved show is a Twitter account.
Yup. Stars tweet just like moms, dads and business people. And younger stars are a lot more likely to tweet about their personal details, like what CD they are listening to or what snack they’re gobbling down, than older stars. That means you will be able to casually drop the news that Emily Osment and Miley Cyrus are planning their 18th birthday party together or that Joe Jonas was embarrassed to find out that he was being photographed by paparazzi when he was grabbing a snack.
So how do you find the stars of your child’s favorite show so you can follow them on Twitter?
Sometimes, you can search for the stars’ names and will be lucky enough to find them tweeting under that name as a verified account. Other times, they aren’t so easy to find because a fan grabbed that name first. You have to do a bit of detective work to find them. Still other times, the stars just aren’t into tweeting and twittering through their days. To find out what is going on with them, you might need to find a writer, producer, or television show page that mentions them.
There’s also another way to find stars on Twitter. Just read this week’s series of posts on “The Stars of ___ on Twitter” and follow away.
Today, we’re going to follow the stars of iCarly. Ready?
- We’ll start with Producer Dan Schneider, who tweets all kinds of cool details about the show. You can find him as @DanWarp.
- The show itself is on @iCarly. I don’t actually follow the show, though.
- I follow Miranda Cosgrove, who plays Carly on @MirandaBuzz
- JennetteMccurdy, who plays Sam on @JennetteMccurdy
- Nathan Kress, who plays Freddie on @BruinDude92
- Noah Munck, who plays Gibby on @munckytown
- Reed Alexander who plays Nevel on @reedalexander
- Jerry Trainor, who plays Spencer on @JerryTrainor
Don’t forget to come back over the next few days to catch the rest of this four part series! (And don’t forget to let me know if there is another television show you’d really like to follow on twitter. I’ll do my best to dig up any of the stars who tweet!)
Do You Need Cable If You Have High Speed Internet?
I have high speed internet and I have cable television, but lately I’ve noticed something interesting. I want to catch up on a show I’ve missed. I’ve got it recorded on my digital recorder on the television in the other room. So, I should go in there and hit play, right?
First, I hop online and check the show’s website or Hulu and there it is. Whoopie! I can watch on my laptop. So I do. With a minimized window so I can keep working on whatever project I’m working on, I watch a show I could be watching on a big screen television.
This leads me to my question: Do you need cable if you have high speed internet?
Unless you’re watching HBO or another show that doesn’t let you see episodes online, I’m thinking the answer is no. Not really. Maybe you want basic cable for the news or so the kids can watch PBS on their television while you work on your laptop, but that’s about it.
I’m not canceling cable anytime soon, though. I have a package deal that is good for almost a year and it is nice to still curl up on the sofa with a bowl of popcorn for “family night” so we can laugh at the newest iCarly or Disney movie. I could do that with a DVD player and one of our favorite DVD’s, but, for some reason, it just isn’t as special to the kids.
What about you? Are you planning to cancel cable and just hop online for your television fix?
Read TV Show Fan Blogs for Nice News
I love to catch up on what is going on with my favorite television stars and the shows that I enjoy watching. I used to buy the gossip magazines and would try to figure out what was true and what was made up garbage.
Then, I decided that every time I buy a magazine, I’m supporting the lies they make up about a star or a show. Those lies hurt people. Real people. Because being famous doesn’t make you less than or more than human.
So, I started to look for other ways to catch up on my favorite stars and realized that fan blogs were the perfect place to keep up with what is going on without supporting mean spirited gossip.
Here are a few fan blogs I like to read when I am looking for news on my favorite shows:
- Grey’s News keeps up with the newest episodes, spoilers and rumors and still plays nice. Since I don’t consider the story lines to be exactly family friendly, I depend on fan sites like this to let me know what is going on when I can’t watch the episodes.
- Click Clack TV is a network of bloggers that keep up with a massive number of shows and all the related news.
- Modoration tells us all about the teen stars and their clothes without being offensive or nasty. I like finding sites like this to guide the kids to because they show by example how you can talk about people and what they are wearing without giving in to the mean girl trend.
- TV Reality Watch allows us to keep up with the shows we are fans of.
- TV Squad is another great site that has a group of bloggers covering a variety of shows.

Want to See iCarly’s Gibby Wearing a Shirt?
Did you know that Noah Munck is more than a shirtless wonder? That’s right. Besides playing the character of Gibby on iCarly, he appears as a lawn boy named Bobby Sinclair in a TruGreen commercial series. I thought it was really refreshing to see him with a shirt for once! (I personally don’t get the whole shirtless thing, but the gang just starts cracking up when Gibby comes running into the scene, rips off his shirt and creates pandemonium. So, I guess the writers are on to something.)
“They grow it, I mow it.” Snappy slogan, huh?
By the way, did you know that iCarly has a website with all kinds of fun video clips and quizzes on it? I was looking at it today and there’s a new video where the iCarly gang and Victoria Justice have problems with a drive thru guy. Maybe seeing that short video today will last us til the next new episode airs!
Introductions Are In Order
Hello gentle reader! (I’ve always wanted to say that. I love the way old book authors assumed all their readers were gentle.)
I’m Katelyn and I’ll be blogging here at Family TV Addicts during my internship. I spent many years writing in the evenings and spending my days working in the library field, but I decided three years ago to pursue writing and blogging full time when Lyme Disease made it tough for me to work outside the home. As I was recovering, I was blessed with three awesome kids and decided to continue working from home.
Now, you’re probably thinking I’m stuffy because I worked as a children’s librarian and branch manager. You might be assuming I feel like TV doesn’t hold a candle to a good book. I’ll let you in on a secret. Sometimes, the movie or made for TV version is better than a book or equally as good in a different way. For example, I love both versions of BLACK BEAUTY. Victorious Is Coming to Nick
Did you love Drake and Josh? Are you a big fan of iCarly? Then, you’ll want to watch a new tv show on Nick that airs on March 27th at 9 p.m. called Victorious. Of course, we’re going to be either recording the show or searching for it online, since 9 EST is past most of our bedtimes!
I thought the star of the show, Tori, looked familiar. Sure enough, she’s Victoria Justice from the iFight Shelby Marx iCarly episode! How cool is that? According to Dan Warp, you’ll see a few other familiar faces, too, including recent iCarly guest Leon Thomas, who appeared as Harper. In Victorious, he will play a character named André.
While he was talking about the great cast of his new show, Dan Warp had some more information to share that really made us happy. iCarly is not, repeat, not canceled. In fact, there are more new episodes already waiting to air and a bunch more on order. So, anyone who has heard the rumors that Victorious is replacing iCarly can take a deep breath and relax!
We Like The Deep End
My friend Angel and I watched the first four episodes of The Deep End on Hulu this week and we like it
Rowdy is a my favorite character so far. Addy is a close second.
And well, I just like looking at Billy Zane… especially Billy Zane eating cake with his hands… (yumm)
The Bachelor: I Don’t Buy It & I’m Glad Jake Didn’t Either
I didn’t buy Ali’s ‘terrible decision’ one bit when it happened. It just felt like such a put on.
It’s not that I don’t believe that she had serious pressure to go back to work. I just felt like she knew her decision before she went to talk to Jake and was just putting on a big show of being conflicted. It felt like a lot of crocodile tears and fake hysteria.
I groaned with pain when she called back later to ask to come back and I’m glad Jake didn’t let her.
I know there’s scuttlebutt about Ali being the next Bachelorette but I sure hope not…
Sex Scandal And Lies – The Bachelor Starts Off With A Bang
I finally had some free time to sit down and watch the last two week’s of The Bachelor. Wow! I was going to recap the season premiere but let’s cut to the chase and talk about the second show. In all the seasons I’ve ever watched The Bachelor I’ve never seen it kick off with a bang like this!
I knew I didn’t like Rosayln from the get go for a reason! But I still had to pull my jaw up off the ground when Chris pulled her aside before the second rose ceremony (mind you she had already been given a rose by Jake on one of the dates so she was safe from elimination!) to talk to her about her ‘inappropriate relationship’ with one of their staffers – or should I say ex staff member? I was floored that she acted like it was no big deal. I felt so bad for Jake as he talked to all the girls about the situation. He seems so genuine and sweet. I actually found myself tearing up!
I love The Bachelor!
I can’t imagine what the rest of the season will have in store for us. Then again there’s nothing that can top this!
